This couldn’t be. I was going to write Clairol a letter, telling them of my disgust and demanding their immediate repentance.

But then: the list linked to, naturally, a place where you could BUY
vegan-friendly products. The site claims here that, among other things, it has been ‘awarded an Australian Federal Government grant to develop the world’s first organic color cosmetics’.

The world’s?
In the US, baby, Physicians Formula and Nicole Miller have you beat by a mile.

Clearly, the message contained inaccurate data. Oh-so-much to my surprise, PETA’s caringconsumer.org cruelty-free list details that ‘[even though] the label on Clairol’s Herbal Essence shampoo states that it is not tested on animals[,] Clairol [...] does test other products on animals’.

Simple.

My day was saved. And it didn’t involve shelling out money to some obscure MLM.

If you’re single like me, you’re facing the dilemma of all dilemmas. And it’s a little bigger than figuring out where to get that bucket of Good Karma Mudd Pie Soy Ice Cream.

The q: Where to find veg* and/or eco-conscious guys?

We’ve all heard the farmer’s market is a prospect, but let’s face it:
you’d need to sacrifice many a weekend afternoon to make this count.
And I don’t know about you, but that Good Karma Mudd Pie sounds really great to me come the weekend.

The solution? Incorporate guy-hunting into your regular routine, namely at
an upscale and/or organic grocery store. This can include Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, AND Harris Teeter, if you’re near one. I don’t know about you, but EVERY time I frequent these stores, the swarm seems to only get greater…

As Harris Teeter’s offerings of organic produce and body care remain extensive, you can multitask effectively, while (hopefully) scoring more than just great products;)

Try this: Harris Teeter’s wine selection is amazing, and they have weekly wine specials as well as awine-of-the-month-club.
Don’t stray from this section, and give your catch something to celebrate: you!

It’s nice to see SOMEONE in cosmetics finally foregoing
the industry’s typical cheap route, one taken in order to placate the zero-to-bitch in .1 seconds Barbie-doll crowd (“omg, it’s not sparkly enough!! Dilemma!!!”).

Hopefully your response is identical to mine: if it has chemicals in it, I really would prefer it NOT being on my face, thank you very much.

Oh, and not to mention that rabbits are often the guinea pigs of the cosmetic industry (among other industries; let allcreatures.orgclear that one up for you).

Let’s face it, there are a million vegan chicks out there telling it like it is. This includes Kim Bardouin and Rory Freedman, authors of last year’s dark horse bestseller Skinny Bitch. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing book.  But I’m definitely not trying to be Kim and Rory–this blog is for women who are already vegan. I.e. the last thing I want to do is beat people over the head with veganism (baseball bats are okay, though.  Totally kidding).

Eco-conscious women today want the whole picture: diet advice and recipes, lifestyle information.  You’ll get all this, complete with contests, giveaways and more.
